INSTALLATION PERFORMANCES by Dennis Delzotto, Satoru Ito, Fabienne Gautier, Marie Hiraga (to be confirmed) and Sylvain Flanagan
SYLVAIN FLANAGANSYLVAIN FLANAGAN works on the relations between images and sounds. He is interested in the paradoxical in-between: the fact that still images are inherently silent but also have a potential for sound and music. Improvising vocal sounds on photographic images, he gives images a voice and a dimension in time. He is trying to have different perception modes meet and influence each other. He wants his pieces to be visual, sound based, musical, installations, film-like, theatrical and orchestral. And simultaneously none of these. In the end, he is looking to explore the borders of our perception modes and to discover breaches in their vicinity.
Sylvain Flanagan is a sound and visual artist who lives and works in New York. He has recently had solo shows in Japan, at Sensei Gallery in NY and at Sideshow Gallery and Galapagos Art Space, both in Brooklyn.
