NON GRATA GROUP
NON GRATA GROUP: For those whose art world starts at the point where the mainstream art world ends, NON GRATA has been a liberator, the orphic gap in the seemingly unalterable course which betrays us - it is a cure from incest. The main point of the group is ethical - it is the image of primitivism, un-personality and experimental creativity. The performances of the group take place accordingly to the logic of avoiding codes. The presentations are physical texts, whose ways of orthography and reading are kept within limits of real actions by group members. Aesthetic and provocative challenges are represented in places, where the Art World doesn't work.
NON GRATA is an International performance group with over 40 members from mostly from Estonia, but also from Quebec, Finland, Sweden, Germany, USA, France, Chile. The main characteristics of the members are ANONYMITY in group work, and intentional ignorance of local art worlds and mass media. NON GRATA has performed in Asia, Europe, South and North America with street actions and long lasting ghetto marathons.

ABOUT GRACE EXHIBITION SPACE IN BROOKLYN, NYC
"Through such intimate encounters between performance groups and their guests, they could follow in the spirit of Yoko Ono's Chamber Street loft or the Surrealist soirees of Paris"
- Warren Fry, The Brooklyn Rail (August, 2007)
Grace Exhibition Space presents over 30 curated live performance art exhibitions each year, showcasing new work by more than 400 performance artists from across the United States and the world since opening in 2006. Grace Exhibition Space is devoted exclusively to Performance Art. We offer an opportunity to experience visceral and challenging performance works by the current generation of international performance artists, whether emerging, mid career or established.
Being a Brooklyn loft, our events are presented on the floor, not on a stage, dissolving the boundary between artist and viewer. This is how performance art is meant to be experienced and our mission is the glorification of performance art.
"Grace Exhibition Space is the sole gallery in this city that shows specifically, in its most intentionally narrow definition, Performance Art." Patricia Milder, The Brooklyn Rail (May, 2011)
